Spirit Speaks – Counting Our Blessings

One of the things that I have observed through the Calgary flood is that with all of the devastation, there are moment of grace.  In these moments, one can count their blessings.  I was talking with a friend, and we began a list of blessings.

  1. First Responders
  2. Rain easing off
  3. Amazing ability to fix a road and railroad in several days
  4. Good people who donated food
  5. Good people that cleaned out flooded basements filled with water, sludge, mold, etc.
  6. Volunteers that organized food and clothing drives
  7. Volunteers that drove people for medications or ran errands
  8. Workers that toiled twelve hours to get the downtown cleaned up in one week
  9. The openness of strangers to others
  10. The re-examination of housing development policies for the city and the province
  11. Getting funds out to people who lost everything
  12. The people who took in friends and strangers when the friends and strangers were evacuated from their homes
  13. The stores that are offering additional discounts to flood victims
  14. etc.

The idea is to get the energy going around the blessings.  Yes, there are lots of people that lost everything, and have to start over.  As one announcer said, sometimes, that is a blessing too.  How many people get to start over half way through their lives?

What are your blessings?  Did you count them today?  Here is a good example of one way to count them.

Blessings,

Judy
